Consists of correspondence, clippings, reports, brochures, and other printed material from museums and historical societies, many of them black institutions, and most located in New York City. Among those represented are the Afro-American Cultural Foundation, the Brooklyn Museum, the Emanuel Pieterson Historical Society, the Harlem Cultural Council, and the People's Center of the American Museum of Natural History. Also included are organizations from California, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, and Nevada.
